Scouts meet in 'Troops' all around the world. We are aged between 10 ½ to 14 who master new skills and try new things each week. We work together to gain Badges and Awards such as our 'Chief Scout Gold Award'.
Each week we get the opportunity to make new friends, have fun and go on wild adventures at home and abroad. We help others and make a difference in our own community and beyond in further areas.
We progress into more practical adventures beyond cubs such as Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, climbing, Gyhll scrambing, Hiking, Week long camps and international trips all working towards our Chief Scout Gold Awards.
We meet on Thursday's from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Hello! If you have made it this far, then the good news is, we haven't scared you off. Welcome to the Scout Troop's section of our website. I'm Daniel, and i am the Team Lead within our group for the Scout Troop at 9th 15th. I head up a lovely team of volunteers who thrive to make sure your young people get the most of scouting and our sessions.
I will be the one who sends you information, emails, reminders and event invites via our online portal OSM & the main contact for any important information.
My background in scouting is quite large, i began when i was age 8 as a Cub Scout 14 years ago. I then continued through all the sections completing each Chief Scout Award as i moved up to Explorers. During my time i had the great opportunity of completing all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Numerous international and national summer camps including 2 Jamborees in Belgium and Denmark with thousands of scouts from around the world. I am now an active Network member, Scout Team Lead & Youth Lead for our District.
I am proud of what i have achieved and glad i can pass this on to your young people when they join our section.
I look forward to meeting you!
Dan
Hey up! Nice to meet you. I am Daniel, One of the Scout Team members at 9th 15th Leigh Scout Group. I support Daniel in the running of the Troop and assist with Planning, organising and running of the sessions and events.
I began as a young Beaver at 9th 15th Leigh Many years ago before heading up through the scouting system to explorers where i then left and became a leader. I have been with different Groups before ending back at my home group. I am glad to give back to a group where my love and passion for scouts started.
if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to speak to one of the team. We are all friendly.

When you come to complete the 'Expedition' challenge, Your young person will be expected to work together as a patrol to learn, plan and map a route completing either an expedition or exploration of their choice over at least two days.
Your young person will need to plan a route, including rest and meal stops being able to work out how long it should take you to travel. Successfully navigate using maps and timetables for your route such as Ordinance survey maps, A compass, gps device or street maps. Your route may include public transport, You will be able to choose suitable equipment for your trip and know how to respond to an emergency.
During the expedition or exploration you will play a full part in a team, use a map or other navigation device to keep track of your location, cook and eat atleast one hot meal and do a task/investigation or exploration as agreed with your leader.
Every Scout is unique, but they find common ground in their shared Scout values, and make a promise to stick by them.
Making a promise when you join the Troop is a way of celebrating these values. Every time a new Scout decides to join, they chat through their promise with their leader before saying it out loud in front of their fellow Scouts.
The process usually takes place once you’ve had a few weeks to settle in, and is known as being ‘invested’ into Scouts. Usually, the promise ceremony happens in a place you’ve chosen, or in a memorable place that means a lot to the group.
It could be held in your usual meeting place, or it could happen around the campfire, or it could happen on a boat sailing the seven seas. Regardless, it’s a big celebration for all involved, and it’s not uncommon for family and friends to join your fellow Scouts as they cheer you on.
Options for the promise can be found here.
